Utah Artists - About Us

Experience Utah Art!

Utah's spectacular environment has led to the creation of art that details the life and land specific to Utah. The tradition began in the 1800s as artists migrated west to paint landscapes, and culture, and portraits. From the mid-1800s to end of that century, Utah boasted artists — residents as well as itinerant travelers — who created portraits in the realistic style common to that time, narrative paintings that described stories, events, places, and landscapes in a variety of styles.

There's also the traditional arts of the state's Indian tribes, occupational and ethnic groups, and Utahns of rural heritage.

With variety of media including sculpture, photography, ceramics, jewelry and textiles, Utah's art is beyond compare.

Use our Search Page to see how Utah artists envision their environment, historical events, their inner creative visions, and their modes of expression.
